Our Story

Built by People Who Miss the Old MMOs

Ravenspire Studios is a 42-person team of ex-Bungie, ex-NCSoft, ex-CCP veterans building the MMORPG we all stopped being able to find.

The Pitch

For a decade we've watched the MMORPG genre chase mobile retention mechanics, sell power through gacha rolls, and carve content behind battle passes. Meanwhile, the foundations of what made this genre special in 2003 — a world that persisted without you, a clan that mattered, a server whose politics you actually remembered — rotted away.

Ravenspire is a direct response. A seamless 180-square-kilometer continent. Twelve classes across five playable races. Weekly castle sieges between 200-member clans. A player-driven economy where every high-end weapon and siege engine is crafted by a Warsmith, sold at a player-hosted market, and can be lost to the ground if you die in the wrong zone.

No energy bars. No gacha. No real-money auction house. One purchase, forever.

The Team

We started as a Discord of twelve former AAA MMO developers in 2021. Today we are forty-two across design, engineering, art, audio, QA, and community — distributed between Seoul, Prague, Montreal, and Austin. Our lead combat designer shipped three expansions at NCSoft. Our engine lead spent seven years on Destiny's netcode. Our lore writer was on Guild Wars 2's original narrative team.

We are funded by a single patient investor who has held MMO shares for twenty years. We took zero publisher money. Every design decision goes through an internal playtest on a Tuesday before it ships on a Thursday.

The Technology

Ravenspire runs on Unreal Engine 5 with a custom seamless-world streaming layer borrowed from AAA open-world games, retrofitted for server-side persistence. Our netcode is a dedicated server mesh — no peer-to-peer, no fortnight-style listen servers, no host migration. Launch servers target 5,000 concurrent users per continent with zero zone boundaries.

We are not making a game. We are building a server.

Inspirations

We don't hide our references: Lineage 2 (sieges, classes, clan politics), Aion (flight-enhanced PvP), Guild Wars 2 (dynamic events), EVE Online (player economy and territorial politics), and Ultima Online (loot-drop tension). Ravenspire is a love letter. It is also a bet — that tens of thousands of players still want the deep, heavy, unapologetically hardcore MMOs of the 2000s, rebuilt with 2026-era technology.
